Come join us at Melting Gender Roles: Stirring Up Awareness!
Event is free to attend, fondue will be served, 1st 300 students receive a free gift bag,

What: Interactive event to explore gender stereotypes & biases
When: Wednesday, April 8 at 7:30pm (doors open at 7:00pm)
Where: Peters Commons cafe

Hands-on activities will include an immersive journey through gender history, a panel discussion with professionals who are in careers non-traditional for their gender, a short performance by UD's Courage and Social Action Theater, and interactive booths on a wide variety of topics related to gender. Topics include genderized toys, sexism in marketing, women in aviation, men in nursing, gender & Jesus, women in college sports, street harassment, and lots more.

  • Compete in a paper airplane contest
  • See & talk about sexist beer labels
  • Learn about women in the criminal justice system
  • Debate if Legos are sexist
  • Explore gender stereotypes in sports
  • Find out about workplace stereotypes & biases
  • Talk with students who experience gender stereotypes based on their clothing
  • Meet students and community members who are challenging gender stereotypes
  • And LOTS more!
