Tips on Using Lexis/Nexis to Find Federa/State Cases

1) Use the "Federal/State Case Search" box

2) Click on "Advanced Options"

3) In the "Build Your Own Segment Search" box, choose the segment, "CORE-TERMS" and then put in your key terms in the paratheses.  You can use the "And" to tie together several core terms

4) Use the following keywords for these specific assignments

a. State Law Vs. Federal Administrative Law:   preempt, state law

b. Interstate Commerce: interstate commerce, state laws, local laws

c. Tort Law: negligence cases, airlines, pilot

d. Criminal Law: criminal cases, airlines, pilot
