Library Basics: How to get help

Ask us anything!

The library staff are always here to help you find what you need!

Our expertise is in research, and we can help with any phase of the research process, from brainstorming topics, to evaluating source credibility, and finding scholarly articles.

We're also happy to field questions about non-library stuff. We're pretty well connected to other departments on campus, so if we don't know the answer to your question, we'll find the person who does!

Reference Hours

Library Reference Hours

We do not staff the desk during May or Summer terms, but we do check the reference email frequently during the week. Our response may not be immediate, so thanks for your patience. If you need immediate assistance between 8-5 on weekdays, call 563-589-3770 or 563-589-3100.

Writing Center Help

The Writing Center can help students at any point in the writing process. Consultants work with students one-on-one or in small groups in order to provide them with the tools, techniques, and confidence required to develop into successful writers.

To schedule an appointment in the Writing Center, please use the WC Online appointment scheduling form. A simple registration is required. Or call (563) 589-3641.

Online Writing Lab is a new service through which writing consultants provide suggestions electronically for you to improve your writing. This is NOT a proofreading service & 48 hours' notice is required. Contact a Writing Center staff member in the Academic Success Center (ASC) for more information.
